Indian Navy Officer Vinay Narwal, Recently Married, Killed in Pahalgam Terror Attack While on Leave

Indian Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal (Age 26) was among the 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, April 22.
- Lt. Narwal was posted in Kochi and had traveled to the region while on leave.
- He had recently married on April 16, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking.
- A native of Haryana, his identity was confirmed by defence officials via ANI.
The Pahalgam attack is being described as the deadliest terror strike in Jammu and Kashmir since the Pulwama attack in 2019.
The terrorists opened fire on tourists near Baisaran meadow, located about 6 kilometers from Pahalgam town, around 3:00 PM on Tuesday.
A total of 26 people were killed, including:
- Two foreign nationals (from UAE and Nepal)
- Two local residents
- Tourists from multiple Indian states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu
The timing of the attack is significant, occurring just as:
- US Vice President JD Vance is visiting India
- The tourist and trekking season in Kashmir is gaining momentum
Baisaran, often referred to as “Mini Switzerland,” is a popular tourist destination surrounded by pine forests and scenic mountain ranges, drawing visitors from across India and abroad.

Following the attack, a joint operation has been launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the areas of Baisaran, Pahalgam, and Anantnag.
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army confirmed that: “The search operation is currently in progress, with all efforts focused on bringing the attackers to justice.”
