A 25-year-old Armyman has been arrested for allegedly murdering his girlfriend and burying her body after she pressured him for marriage. Posted in Patiala, Harshwardhan alias Deepak Yadav had come to Sangam City on November 9 for a month-long leave ahead of his own scheduled marriage.
The 17-year-old girl from Prayagraj, whom he had befriended on Instagram three months ago, was reportedly pressuring him to marry her and threatening to expose their relationship. According to DCP (City) Maneesh Sandhilya, Yadav called her on November 10 on the pretext of meeting, took her to the trans-Ganga area on his bike, and killed her.
Her body, missing since November 10, was found on November 15 at village Lakharwa after locals saw stray dogs digging the soil and informed the police. She was later identified as a Class 11 student who had left home saying she had a practical session.
